Enrofloxacin

Why has my veterinarian prescribed this medicine?

Your pet has been prescribed Baytril (enrofloxacin), a fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a broad spectrum against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.

Adverse effects:

The following are reported side effects in dogs, list

ed in decreasing order of frequency:

  • Gastrointestinal: anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting, elevated liver enzymes
  • Neurologic: ataxia, seizures
  • Behavioural: Depression, lethargy, nervousness

The following are reported side effects in cats, listed in decreasing order of frequency:

  • Ocular: loss of vision, retinal abnormalities (retinal degeneration, retinal atrophy, attenuated retinal vessels, and hyperreflective tapeta), mydriasis
  • Gastrointestinal: vomiting, anorexia, elevated liver enzymes, diarrhea
  • Neurologic: ataxia, seizures
  • Behavioural: depression, lethargy, vocalization, aggression

Storage and handling:

Do not store above 40°
